Safety
Safety on HayFun
HayFun pairs you with people you have never met. Most of those conversations are friendly, a few are boring, and once in a while someone is rude. This page covers what you can do about the last kind, and what is worth keeping to yourself in every chat.
HayFun is for adults
You need to be 18 or older to use HayFun. Anyone who looks younger than that should not be there: leave the chat and send a report.
What the other person can see
| You picked | They get |
|---|---|
| Video | Your video, your voice and anything visible behind you |
| Voice | Your voice and any background noise, no picture |
| Text | Only the messages you type |
Your browser asks before it turns on the camera or microphone, and you can turn either off in the browser’s site settings. Keep in mind that HayFun cannot stop the other person from recording their own screen.
Leaving a chat
- On a video or voice call, the button to go to the next person shows up after the first few seconds. You can hang up at any time; HayFun asks you to confirm first.
- A text match opens as an ordinary conversation. Just leave it and press start again to meet someone else.
- Random matching can sometimes connect you to a host’s live room, where more people may be watching. Leave the same way if that isn’t what you wanted.
Reporting and blocking
Both buttons sit on the other person’s HayFun profile. Get there from the chat or from your call history.
- Block whenever you would rather not hear from someone again.
- Report sends the account to HayFun for review. HayFun says reports are reviewed within 24 hours.
- Report anything involving minors, threats, scams or explicit content shown without your consent. You do not need to be sure; that is what the review is for.
Details worth holding back
- Your full name, home address or workplace
- Your phone number, email and social media handles, at least until you have talked a few times and want to share them
- Photos of your ID, bank cards or anything with a document number
- Anything you would be upset to see saved on someone else’s phone
Money and scams
HayFun sells coins inside the app, and calls past the free opening time use them per minute. Nobody you meet on HayFun needs your card details, a gift card or a bank transfer. If someone asks for money, a code or a payment “to unlock” something, end the chat and report the account.
Be careful with links sent by people you just met, especially ones that ask you to log in somewhere.
